Restoring Engine Performance With Quality Cylinder Heads
The INFINITI of Cool Springs parts team has all the parts you're looking for your restoration, modification, or repair project. Cylinder heads are the upper engine components that seal combustion chambers and house valves controlling airflow. Your Q50 or QX60 depends on properly functioning cylinder heads for efficient power generation and emissions control. Failed cylinder heads cause severe engine damage and performance losses that worsen quickly.
What Cylinder Heads Do in Your Engine
Cylinder heads bolt to the top of the engine block and create sealed combustion chambers where fuel burns. They contain intake and exhaust valves that open and close thousands of times per minute. The head also houses valve springs, camshafts, and rocker assemblies that control valve timing. Internal passages allow coolant to flow through, removing heat from combustion. The combustion chamber shape within the head influences compression ratio and fuel efficiency. Spark plug ports thread into the head to position igniters precisely within each chamber. Genuine INFINITI cylinder heads are cast and machined to exact specifications that maintain proper compression, cooling, and valve operation for your luxury engine.
Why Cylinder Heads Crack and Fail
Overheating remains the primary cause of cylinder head failure in luxury vehicles. Excessive temperatures cause the metal to warp or develop cracks between valve seats and coolant passages. These cracks allow coolant to leak into combustion chambers or mix with engine oil. Detonation from incorrect fuel or faulty spark plugs can damage the combustion chamber surface. Poor maintenance allowing coolant contamination accelerates internal corrosion. Aftermarket cylinder heads often use inferior casting processes that create weak points prone to cracking under normal operating stress.
Recognizing When Cylinder Head Replacement Is Necessary
White smoke from the exhaust indicates coolant burning in combustion chambers. External coolant leaks near the head gasket surface suggest head warping. Engine overheating without visible external leaks points to internal head gasket or head failure. Oil appearing milky on the dipstick signals coolant contamination from head problems. Misfires or rough running that persist after basic maintenance indicate valve train issues within the head. We stock genuine INFINITI cylinder heads that restore your engine to factory performance specifications.
